Dr. Sunny J. Patel, DPM, FACPM, earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Sociology from the University of Virginia in 2010. He continued his education at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, where he earned his medical degree in 2014. He then completed an all-encompassing 3-year Reconstructive Foot & Ankle Surgery residency program at Drexel University College of Medicine/Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he had the privilege of serving as chief resident during his final year in 2017.
Dr. Patel joined SynergyHealth Foot & Ankle with expertise in all aspects of foot and ankle care, including simple and complex deformity management, conservative treatment of traumatic injuries, cosmetic forefoot/bunion surgery, diabetic foot care, neuropathy, wound care, and sports medicine. Although Dr. Patel is fully trained in all aspects of Foot and Ankle Surgery, he has a special interest in exhausting all conservative treatments before considering surgical options.
Born and raised in Richmond, Dr. Sunny Patel resides in Short Pump, Virginia, with his wife Bijal, son Vihaan, and daughter Aavya. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling, playing tennis, Peloton biking and checking out the many new food and wine establishments that RVA has to offer.
Dr. Sunny Patel, DPM, FACPM, is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Podiatric Medicine. He has been on Healthgrades distinguished Physician Honor Roll since 2017.
