This past year, Dr. Luke Vetti completed his 2025-2026 term as president of the James River Rotary Club. During his presidency, Dr. Vetti has contributed to numerous community service projects and collaborated with organizations across the Richmond area in support of community connection and wellness.
Throughout the year, Dr. Luke Vetti helped guide the club's activities and represented its members in broader Rotary efforts. Perhaps one of his biggest accomplishments during his term was securing the James River Rotary Club's participation in a Rotary District 7600 initiative supporting people experiencing homelessness.
The initiative brought together the Rotary Clubs of James River (Richmond), Midlothian, Chester, Bon Air, and West Richmond. Additional partners included the Friends of the Chesterfield County Public Libraries, the West Richmond Rotary Foundation, and the Chesterfield Public Library System.
Supported by a Rotary District 7600 grant, the participating organizations collaborated to provide care packages designed to address immediate needs of the Greater Richmond homeless population while connecting recipients with resources that may support greater stability and overall wellness. Packages included basic survival equipment, a notebook containing information about available assistance, and a new book selected by each recipient.
The project recognized the important role public libraries can play for people experiencing homelessness. Libraries are among the few free, sheltered public spaces available to individuals who may lack dependable access to housing and other essential services.
Library professionals and law enforcement worked together to help identify eligible recipients, while the Rotary clubs and nonprofit partners aided in funding. The initiative combined immediate assistance with information intended to help the homeless population identify additional resources and get back on their feet to enjoy a better quality of life. The Rotary District 7600 grant kickoff took place during the 2025 holiday season and demonstrated the power of collaboration and coordination in supporting people in need. As president of the James River Rotary Club, Dr. Vetti made the district grant one of his key goals while in office.
Throughout Dr. Vetti's term, the club also welcomed educational speakers and participated in other service activities and fundraising events, such as the Annual Sporting Clays Fundraiser and Bourbon Raffle.
He also participated in service projects in coordination with the Chesterfield County Prison and the club's trash pickup along Watkins Center Parkway. During one cleanup, the club found a metal sign from the Salisbury Homeowner's Association that had been vandalized and dumped on the side of the road and was able to return it to them.
Dr. Vetti continues to serve the community by seeing uninsured patients referred via the Richmond Academy of Medicine's AccessNow program with both medical and surgical care. Recently, he was able to surgically repair an uninsured patient's neglected ankle fracture at no cost to the patient. He also serves his profession as a volunteer with the Virginia Podiatric Medical Association, currently as its Treasurer and Co-Director of its Summer Scientific Conference.
Dr. Vetti has made community service a part of his life since he was young. Over the years, he has also volunteered his time in the BSA as a Commissioner, Eagle Scout, and Wood Badge; Alpha Phi Omega, earning the Distinguished Service Key; and with multiple other community, podiatric, and academic organizations.
As a whole-patient practice, SynergyHealth Foot & Ankle proudly congratulates Dr. Vetti on his work with the James River Rotary Club, whose mission complements the practice's comprehensive approach to health and wellness. SynergyHealth Foot & Ankle recognizes that circumstances beyond the clinical setting can influence mobility, independence, and quality of life. Dr. Vetti's presidential term demonstrates the level of dedication and care our podiatrists have toward collaborative efforts focused on community, access, and whole-person well-being.
